A&A Multiprime´s dispute resolution legal team has successfully defended its clients in 3 large precedent-setting maritime law cases involving proceedings in Colombia. These proceedings were:
- The firm represented the owners of MV Stadt Bremen (and their P&I) in a complex litigation relating to a Grounding in Barranquilla and the payment of approx. USD 1,2 million made by 7 local insurers due to a General Average declared. The Courts followed our defenses and the ship was fully exonerated in first and second instance in 2019.
- The firm represented the owners of MV Wasaborg (and their P&I) in a multijurisdictional litigation relating to a cargo loss claim for approx. USD 1 Million due to Hurricane Sandy. The ship was recently fully exonerated in first instance and the appeal is ongoing.
- The firm represented the Danish ship-owners of a vessel (and their P&I) in a USD 7 Million claim filed by the terminal, due to a collision in Cartagena between the Ship and the terminal. Once the litigation had started, after very difficult negotiations we managed to achieve a “drop hands” solution where the terminal fully withdrew their claim in Colombia, and Member/Club refrained from starting a C/P claim in London.
As one of Colombia’s leading shipping practices, we are glad to keep delivering good results to our principals.
